The competition organised by RCAHMS [Edinburgh, UK] challenged students to sketch out designs for a living space for a future Scotland affected by extreme climate change. Entrants were given just 48 hours to produce and submit their work, to ensure an honest. The brief asked to design a living space set in a future Scotland where the environment has been dramatically affected by climate change. I became a second Runner-up with this entry.
Talking about changing places and complex climate conditions, one of the most important things is the autonomy of the dwelling. Thus the building has access to water (it may be any basin with a water distiller or a well) indoors; to ground for planting (there is an indoor yard in the centre of the house); to sources of energy (the roof of the building is suitable for solar panels perfectly; some energy can be taken from the ground, thermal energy; some from a windmill and some from a watermill if the building is situated on the river.) Total area: 196m². It houses a kitchen, a living-room, a bedroom, a bathroom and an indoor yard.
